Mike Sterling is owner and operator of Sterling Inspection Services, a home inspection and construction consulting service, as well as Sterling and Company, a construction firm.
Sterling began his construction career as an itinerant and then journeyman carpenter at Lake Tahoe, California. Later exposure to cabinet making and installations in the San Francisco Bay area led to his earning a general contractor's license.
Ten years and a sore back later, he began inspecting houses for prospective buyers. That led inevitably to construction consulting and litigation support. Twenty years later, he spends too much time in crawl spaces and lawyers' offices (redundant?) and too little time camping. This will change one day. Until then, he has developed specialties in water intrusion investigation/remediation and construction dispute mediation. He thought that by doing this, he wouldn't have to crawl as much.
